The Coach and Horses

The Coach and Horses has been a pub/tavern since the 1700’s, the present building dates from the 1850’s. In the 60’s it was soemwhat of an institution,it’s claim to fame being the landlord Norman Balon, who become known as “London’s rudest landlord”.

There was even a play “Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell” ( columnist at Private Eye and regular at the pub) written by “Keith Waterhouse ” which included the set of the Pub. Shortly after the play, Norman Balon published his memoirs You’re Barred, You Bastards. The present landlord Alastair Choat took over the pub from Mr Balon in 2006 and continues the fine tradition of holding events for the media and providing quality live entertainment, including yours truly on Saturday Nights as Magic Betty a Mrs Mills kind of tribute.
